"Established in 1935 by the Finnish architects Aino Marsio-Aalto and Alvar Aalto and their co-founders, Maire Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl, the design company Artek created innovative interiors for distinctly modern spaces, such as cinemas and airports, in addition to the Aaltos' most important buildings. Inspired by the Bard Graduate Center's exhibition Artek and the Aaltos, the first outside Finland to be devoted to the company, this richly illustrated book features furniture, glassware and lighting, design sketches, drawings, textile swatches, and photographs, many of which have never before been published. Included are essays by international scholars, including Harry Charrington, Timo Keiñnen, Juhani Pallasmaa, Susanna Pettersson, Arthur R
