Description:
small table cover or possibly chalice veil formed of multiple pieces of salmon-pink silk patterned with small irregular and oblong shapes in silver (lamella) thread, with a rectangle of pink bizarre silk in the center; the bizarre silk employs a satin damask ground with both filé and frisé silver brocading yarns, as well as small areas of bright yellow and white brocading, all bound in twill; the central patch and outside perimeter are bordered with silver galloon tape, and the reverse is lined with strips of pink silk plainweave; paper tag attached: “A6 SBX / XVII Century / rose lamé brocade / square. / $32.50” and on reverse: “003691 / L.S. 1783 / SBX”
